Johnny Depp plays Dr. Will Caster who becomes part of his own master experiment, his transcendence beyond the confines of the human body, after anti-technology activists target him in their rage against the “machine”. Wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max (Paul Bettany) think him crazy and then highly dangerous as Will evolves and seemingly becomes omnipotent.
Lotta says: The tagline for the film is “What if new intelligence” was born?” The movie makes you think about life, death and the power of the mind. It’s also very clear from Will’s dialogue about man’s fear of the unknown that the human race is probably doomed. Intelligent film well done.
